Lesléa Newman - Writer
Lesléa Newman is an author and editor. Ms. Newman wrote "Heather Has Two Mommies", the first children's book to portray lesbian families in a positive way. She is also the author of many books for adults that deal with lesbian identity, Jewish identity and the intersection and collision between the two. In addition to being an author, Ms. Newman is a popular guest lecturer, and has spoken on college campuses across the country. Current projects include a recently completed novel about sexual abuse entitled "Jailbait", a short story collection in progress entitled, "Family is Family" and several pictures books including "Runaway Dreidl", "My Name is Aviva", and "Cats, Cats, Cats".

Queerwitness
We are a tribe with a great purpose in the world. Queerwitness focuses on queer spirituality, oral history, politics, storytelling and HIV/AIDS, with history being from a first-person perspective, including being present at the Stonewall Riots and subsequent involvement with the Gay Liberation Front followed by the politics of spirituality and the creative arts. It is also the story of one man's spiritual and physical struggles with illness and death from AIDS and a return to new life.
